Chile: Don Maximiano Founder's Reserve

The Don Maximiano vineyard is located in the Aconcagua Valley and the oldest among them are Max I, Max II and Max V blocks. The region has a long dry season with moderately warm summer days cooled by the soft evening breezes that enter the valley from the Pacific Ocean. Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere vines were planted in 1978 and 1993, respectively, while the Petit Verdot was planted in 1999.

Tasting Note:

Deep violet-red in color, Don Maximiano Founder's Reserve 2022 captivates with a complex and richly layered nose. It opens with aromas of red and black fruits, such as black cherry, currants, and raspberries, intertwined with floral notes and spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, and white pepper. Underlying these are hints of graphite, complemented by a finish of dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans. On the palate, the red and black fruit flavors are echoed, accompanied by spices and a subtle touch of dark chocolate. With a broad and juicy entry, its polished tannins provide excellent persistence.
